Richard Nylon

The designs
Richard Nylon’s Winter Collection for 2007 continues to be inspired by historical reference and natural form. An inspirational blend of late thirties, Elizabethan, the Orient, ocean and plant life and an issue which most concerns us all, climate change. Colours of white, silver, black & red. Shades that honour the beauty of these striking designs. Nylon manipulates crinoline, straw, feathers & vintage veiling creating abstract form and pattern. Despite historic influence the shapes depart tradition. Nylon's creative process is organic allowing the material to find its inherent quality of contour. The sculptural nature of his creations imitate the effect of forms frozen in motion.

Why wear a hat?
Nylon believes hats form an integral part of an outfit, they change the demeanour of the wearer and can transform a merely good outfit into one of resplendence. They are an elegant punctuation to an outfit. Nylon professes since hats have become relatively rare a wearer will invariably draw attention. Hats are empowering. They have the ability to lengthen ones silhouette... And for ladies what could be more alluring than veiled eyes! Hats are fascinating! Nylon's desire is to see people enjoy wearing hats and to experience the effect. Hats draw attention to people's faces. The face is about human expression. Hats compliment a person's individuality. Faces are the first things that people look at, and hats frame this meaningful, expressive form of communication.

Spring Racing carnival is the ultimate time to be seen wearing a hat. A Nylon creation will add to your wardrobe all year round. Richard’s beautiful bridal creations are available at Gwendolynne boutique in Melbourne’s Fitzroy.

Nylon is intimately involved in every stage of the design process, from initial concept, to the creation and production of these uniquely handcrafted pieces.
